Pruning Lavender
Did you know you have to cut back your lavender plants? Do this in the late fall to encourage bushy, healthy growth.
TRANSCRIPT
Here we have a lavender plant, we're going to talk about pruning it in the late fall. This is important. Because these plants, if they don't get pruned at least every other year, they can get really leggy and not form that really beautiful silvery clump that we associate with lavender. So for lavender plants, minimally you want to cut them back by about a third every year.
And that's simply taking your pruners, looking at the branches, and then cutting accordingly. Still has that really beautiful lavender smell. This is going to encourage bushier growth from the center, and you're going to have a really beautiful plant next spring.
